This is interesting.
well, after reading this, guess you will never look at a banana in the same way again. Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes. But energy isn’t the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
Anemia: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.
Constipation: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.. High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn: One of the quickest Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
Mosquito bites: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness. Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at wor k leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a “cooling” fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Many other cultures see bananas as a “cooling” fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature. Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.
Smoking &Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal. Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body’s water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, “A banana a day keeps the doctor away!”
PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS, K
PS: Guess bananas must be the reason why monkeys are so happy-go-lucky all the time! Here, I just wanna add something I discovered - so, wanna a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin and rub directly on the shoe…then polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit, huh!

My 13-year old cousin brother had been attending Children’s Church Camp since last year that I decided to go for one the next time his church organize for YA. It happened that I came to know on the YAF Camp thru’ the flyers distributed around in the church one fine Sunday.
And there I was, signing up for it – yeap, a 2-day Camp at Eagle Ranch, Port Dickson (15 – 17 September 2006). It was my pleasure to have attended the Camp – which was fun-filled with power-packed activities throughout the 2 days.
Below is my Personal Top 10 Takeaway from YAF Camp 2006 (in no particular order)
1. We’re suppose to meet up and start leaving the church compound at 7:30pm. Two days prior to the Camp, Brian called up asking if we could leave KL at 9.30pm. Well, it was a blessing to me and I thank God for the time arrangement as I was in the office till 8pm that Friday night… since I would be on leave the following day.
2. The world is real small as I bumped into my 2-year junior secondary schoolmate at the Camp. To my surprise, Hui Yen recognized me (we left school years ago…) and well, we’re even staying in the same dorm. Wow, isn’t God great?
3. The food quality is simply splendid… we have plenty to fill up our hungry stomach.
4. I came alone with no one whom I know in the Camp for R&R… away from workplace and was overwhelmed with the friendship everyone has extended to me, especially my dorm mates. (Meng Meng being one of them…)
5) Pastor Dennis’s sermon – this is where I came to know that guys these days are also (better) known as “K-A-Y-U” – from the ever-popular hangout in SS2 (Nasi Kandar Kayu). Thanx to Pastor Dennis, our brothers have been talking about this Kayu issue over and over again throughout the 2-day Camp. Well, deep down, I know you guys got annoyed and strongly disagree with it, but….
6) Sea Rafting – we got to build our own raft (with just 12 bamboos and 4 drums) under the hot sun and thank God all five teams made it back in one piece. (Amen!) My Purple Team was in 3rd spot and we had fun cheering each other as we synchronized rowing with all strength.
7) Obstacle Course – never think I could be able to complete all the 20 obstacle courses. This is where I got my sunburns – ½ roasted.
8) Go –Kart – I was the last to start but was the fastest of four. Was stopped after the 3rd lap, and thinking the game was over, I took off my helmet. Not knowing that I was stopped coz my helmet somehow got loosened and it was kind of dangerous…Well, I fastened my helmet and back to the race. And hey, guess what, I still finished first at the track. Ha!Ha! And that’s because there’s no rules, no traffic lights, no speed traps – one could just go as fast as he/ she wishes to….
9) Flying Fox – somehow, I dare not take up the challenge, but was there to show moral support. Well, everyone’s expression and gesture is just simply amazing with their own “stunts” as they took the jump-off.
10) Special thanx to Mel-Vern a.k.a. Camp Commandant and its committee members who had done a grrreat job in ensuring everyone to have an awesome time at the Camp.
It was my very first time attending a Church Camp, and well, I had had a great time there….

I had just attended a 2-day power-packed activities organized by a YAF Church Camp at Eagle Ranch, Port Dickson over the weekends. And we had one of the most exciting yet thrilling playoffs ever - Obstacle Course. Yeap, our group of 15 people having to work collectively as a team to clear all the hindrance in safety at 20 stations in the shortest time.
Well, I am glad I had managed to clear all the 20 Obstacle Course and thank God for giving me the courage and sensed the excitement vibes to overcome the entire obstacle… boldly (Just can’t believe I did it. Praise God!)
Below are the Obstacle Course that we had gone thru’
1) 2-feet Single Bar
The 1st is always the easiest, I presume. We just need to jump across the bar (without falling over)
2) 6-feet Double Bar
Looks simple, as we have to climb up the bar (looks more like a log to me) and once we reached the 2nd bar, we have to climb down from the other side.
3) Swinging Bridge
We have to walk across the bridge with the right balancing. Easy, we stretched our both arms and took bigger steps as we walked across with no fear.
4) Tyre King
Kids stuff, I suppose. We crawled thru’ the tyre and here’s where we began to get ourselves dirty (with sludge and sand all over)
5) Crab Walk
This is real fun, we ran thru’ balancing ourselves as we put our legs in the designated “planted” 12 big pots.
6) Loft Tunnel
We crawled thru’ a small dark tunnel and when we came out from the other end, not only we got fresher air to breathe, our sports shoes subsequently turn brown too.
7) Staggered Ladder
We ascended and descended the extra-large steps with not much complexity.
8) 6-feet Wall
Wow, 6-feet! (higher than my height-lerr) This is where individual have to climb across and it’s kinda tough, but was made uncomplicated when it comes to joint effort by our team members.
9) 8-feet Wall
And I doubt we have no energy left to overcome this. Somehow, each and every one of us managed to climb across. Yeah, team effort… ‘though this may be the toughest for all teams.
10) Water Hazard
Kacang Putih – we have to jump crosswise (and no falling into the water in between)
11) Rope Netting
A.K.A. spider web. We climbed up and got ourselves across before climbing down the net one after another.
12) Loft Vertical Rope
We hold on to the rope, climbing down the hill slowly with two at a time.
13) Single Beam
Straightforward – log-walking the beam, and not to fall into the water.
14) Tarzan Swing
We just have to swing ourselves across the water hazard… ‘sitting’ on the rope and get swing across… as in Jungle Boy.
15) Monkey Rack
Similar to bar climbing… yeap, climbing across the racks, as fast as we could.
16) Barb Wire 1-feet
Having to crawl thru’ under the barb wire, and our attire turned brown at the front, of course. Yukk, our hands are all covered with sludge (again)
17) Single Cable
We hold on tight on the cable and started walking across on the lower cable with other members holding the upper cable. (And those with slippers/ barefoot are not advisable to go for this…. )
18) Barb Wire 3-feet
This I could say somewhat like duck walking across, but under the barb wire.
19) Log Riding
We have to sit sliding along the log, and well, guys somehow do not find this easy (ah-ha!)
20) Jump-over Ditch
Finally the last obstacle to clear – jumping across the ditch.
Well, all five teams made it by God’s grace and we were all very proud of ourselves… for being successfully in clearing all the 20 station that was set up for the Obstacle Course.
For me, guess I pay to be tortured. (Hah, that’s what I said to my colleagues on Monday) I got bruises on my leg just after completing the 2nd Obstacle, and I have to seek doctor to get some muscle relief medication for not having to exercise regularly. And on top of that, my neck and my hands are now quite sore from the sunburn sustained. I did applied very mild sun block on my entire face but well, I came as a Hainanese Chicken, but went home as a Tandoori Chicken or rather a ‘Siu Kai‘…Yeap, I totally must agree I paid a sum of money for the camp to get myself tortured… physically.
Somehow, it was my pleasure to have attended the church camp as I have an extremely great fellowship and encounter with God during our Sessions. The Pastor’s sermons, to my surprise had kept all of us at the edge of our chair, and if we are not ready to act (fast), we might have just flipped over…
Well, in realism, our life is not always smooth. We do encounter obstacles in life, be it at work – with our bosses or colleagues, at home – with our parents, siblings, spouses or children; and among our acquaintances and relatives.
God in no way withdraws from us no matter how many obstacles we face in our everyday life. A lesson we must all learn, however, is that in times of difficulty and having to overcome obstacle in life, we come to a fresh and vivid consciousness of our dependency on God. And when things are going well, we somehow have self-confidence in our ability to look after our own affairs. We think we are able to handle things by ourselves. But when obstacles crowd upon us and hedge is on every side, then our confidences consequently fade away; we are then reminded in an impressive way of our imperfection and cry out to the Lord for His help. At such times, we begin to realize we are not as strong and as self-sufficient as we thought we were.
Psalm 34:17 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles (obstacles)”
James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
Perhaps the first thing to do when we encounter obstacles in life, is where we can find in the Book of 1 Timothy 2:8, “I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.”
Well, have a blessed week ahead!

“Understand or not, huh” – seems to be playing in my mind whenever I decided to write a Malay article. Why so? Perhaps I doubt not many could digest our National Language, well. And some may even come into conclusion that this weirdo cellie in fact posted an extraterrestrial article where no one understands the hidden connotation. Nevertheless, we are used to our International language as the main medium in our every day communication.
Well, most probably I was just thinking too much. Yeap, I am….
I was feeling on top of the world when I noticed my 2nd Malay-written article too secured 3rd spot in Most Read Threads. Needless, to say, the top spot is still my very 1st article I write in Malay Language. Wow! (Sure or not, arr…)
Never in mind that someday I would be able to write articles in Malay Language. I mean, all of us have studied our National Language for eleven (11) years (6 years in Primary School, and 5 years in Secondary School) and we studied just for the sake of passing our exams (coz it’s one of the core subjects) and that’s it… putting a dot to it, and never put into practice after that.
Now, one may wonder how a Chinese girl could write a Malay article so beautifully. God is awesome, for sure….
Well, a talk with God may turn our doubts to discovery, as in Job 42:1-5, it says, 1 Then Job answered the Lord and said, 2 “I know that You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. 3 You asked, “Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?” Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 4 Listen, please, and let me speak; You said, “I will question you, and you shall answer me. 5 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.”
James 1:6 “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”
To sum up, the chief remedy for doubt is perusing Scripture, as in Romans 10:17, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
